Fast Food Salt Levels 'Shocking'
A meal at a fast food restaurant could expose children to "staggeringly" high levels of salt, a survey has suggested.
Lobby group, Consensus Action on Salt and Health (Cash), found one meal from Pizza Hut contained four times the daily limit of salt for a six-year old.
KFC also did poorly in the analysis of hundreds of food items, which also included McDonalds and Burger King.

I cannot believe that I used to actually feed my child Campbell's soup.
It contains (along with other poisons) about 1700mg of sodium.
Oh, and I just
love
the way they try to hide it:
"Only 500mg of sodium per serving."
#of servings per can: 8

But Campbell's Soup owns other heart stopping options also, like Pepperidge Farm (trans fats, hydrogenated fats, refined sugars, preservative, stabilizers, artificial colors and flavorings, etc.)...such a HEALTHY provider of calories....
NOT!

The best way to avoid the sodium at these places is to eat your home cooked meals at home.

Totally Agree Mary! 2/3rds of all meals consumes in the USA today are consumed outside the home. the vast majority of those meals do not even have labels on them to disclose the ingredients, let alone salt content.
Remember the highest profit in food or beverage brands comes from using lots of air, water, salt and HFCS.
Caveat Emptor!

Yesterday, I was dying of thirst and had about an hour's drive home. I went through a fast food place to get bottled water. I must have been asked 15 different ways if I wanted fries with that, etc. What I found interesting is that I used to like the smell of hamburgers and french fries. Yesterday, I found it disgusting.

I had a difficult time with this article because it talked in terms of salt, not sodium. Do we have a recommended daily intake of "salt" in the US?
