Artificial food colors are set to be removed from hundreds of products in the UK after a team of researchers warned they were doing as much damage to children's brains as lead in gasoline.
Scientists carried out a study of seven additives for the Britain’s Food Standards Agency. They found that children's intelligence was being significantly damaged. Officials at the FSA have advised their directors to call for the food industry to remove six additives named in the study by the end of next year.
Some sweetmakers have already unilaterally agreed to remove the suspect food colors.
