Teething Syrup Suspected of Killing 24 Children

Two dozen Nigerian children have died, and nine more have fallen ill, after being given teething syrup.

Health Minister Dr. Hassan Lawal has ordered a government investigation into the deaths and urged parents to suspend using teething mixtures.

At least 33 cases of renal failure in children have been reported in Lagos, Zaria and Ibadan since November 3. Nigerian health officials specifically warned parents not to use a teething syrup called "My Pikin."
