Pasta, Not Bacon, Makes You Fat. But How?

Posted By Dr. Mercola | February 01 2012 | 1263 views

The obesity epidemic isn’t caused by people consuming too much fat -- the fault lies far more with an overabundance of carbohydrates in the diet.  An infographic created by Column Five for Massive Health, based on Why We Get Fat by science writer Gary Taubes, explains exactly how.

This is why even when compared with traditional calorie restriction diets, low-carb plans allow you to lose far more weight.  Decreasing fat, on the other hand, does nothing to lower your weight.

According to Fast Company:

“But what’s so wrong with carbs themselves? In short, they cause our insulin levels to go haywire, and that, in turn, causes our cells to pull in more fat ... [C]arbs, long thought to be pure and wholesome for so many years, turn out to be the devil”.
