Secrets of 1950s Housewives' Weight Loss

This terrific story highlights how 50 years ago women spent far more time in the kitchen and with domestic chores that made it far easier to keep their ideal weight. They burned over 1,000 calories more per day and consumed 1,000 calories less. I certainly would have included this information in my book if I had known of the statistics.

Interestingly, housewives in the 1950s enjoyed much more active sex lives than women of today, other research has found, because their time was not divided between career, child care and socializing as it is now. August 5, 2004
