Another Way to Prevent the Flu

A study by Canadian researchers demonstrates that children who spent more time in sports activities and had higher aerobic fitness reported fewer "sick" days, and those with body fat higher than 25 percent reported significantly more such events. Their study also found evidence connecting reduced physical activity and excess body fat with higher incidences of upper respiratory tract infections and flu. This study demonstrates the importance of physical activity for children's resistance to infection.

However, if you are already sick, the horse is out of the barn and it is too late to start exercising. You have to do this proactively. If you exercise while you are sick you will only further exacerbate the illness. You could do very light and gentle movements like walking, but the last thing you would want to do when you are sick is exercise intensely.
