Chicago Topped Nation In Homicides In 2003

I'm a native Chicagoan and this is one of the reasons why I consider it a success if I don't travel to Chicago the entire year. There were 599 homicides in Chicago in 2003. The amazing aspect is that this is decrease by nearly 8% from last year, yet they still retained the badge of murder capital of the US. Clearly there are many factors that contribute to this, but it is my strong suspicion that these folks are not choosing their foods very wisely. USA Today January 2, 004
