Your Computer is Dirtier Than a Toilet

A recent University of Arizona study showed that keyboards, computer mice and telephone dials are more infested with microbes than toilet seats. The study recommends that office workstations be regularly disinfected since they can on average contain 400 times as many germs as a toilet seat. So what do you clean your keyboard with? The best is probably isopropyl alcohol swabs as not only would it kill the germs, but it is also fabulous for cleaning the surfaces. I would advise wearing gloves though if you do this regularly as isopropyl alcohol is a relative toxin. We don't use it to rub skin prior to blood draws in our office, we use peroxide. One could use peroxide to clean these surfaces, but I don't think it would physically remove the dirt as well as alcohol is a better solvent than water.
