Low-Grain Food Options Getting Easier When Traveling

The low-carb market is hard to ignore. A recent ACNielsen survey of 10,000 households found 36 percent had someone on a low-carb diet or someone who has tried one. The trend continues as hotel chains and restaurants are jumping on the low-carb diet craze in a bid to boost sales. Some examples include:

  • Sheraton hotels announces today an entire "Lo-Carb Lifestyle" program that not only includes restaurants, room service, bar drinks and banquets--but even a low-carb mint on the guest's pillow.
  • Hyatt starts a nine-dish low-carb menu this week
  • Wyndham (my personal favorite) will introduce several low-carb entrees to all 100 hotels by April 30 in restaurants and room service.
  • T.G.I. Friday's says sales of the nine Atkins-approved entrees are higher at its 21 airport restaurants than the rest of the chain.
