What's the Fattest State in America?

Mississippi, followed by Louisiana and West Virginia, has the worst obesity epidemic in America. More than 25 percent of Mississippi adults are obese and childhood obesity is rampant, according to the CDC. In response, the CDC is giving $1 million in grants to 25 Mississippi elementary and secondary schools to fight the fat plague. One school in the area has already set up a miniature grocery store to help children "learn how to deflect splashy marketing displays" while scouting out more healthy foods. Schools certainly play a large role in helping kids to eat healthy, and this, along with the actions several districts have taken to ban soda in schools, are excellent first steps. Of course, the schools shouldn't take all the blame, because what you eat at home is a major factor as well.
