Dad Charged With Child Abuse for Not Putting Enough Sunblock on Child

A man has been charged with child abuse for not applying enough sunblock to his 12-year-old son before a day at the beach. The boy, who is mentally disabled, was severely burned as a result. The boy's mother took him to the hospital and then reported the incident to authorities. If convicted, the father could face up to 18 months in prison. It is extremely important to protect your skin from sunburns, and in the case of small or disabled children it is up to the parent to make sure this does not happen. But, as I have been saying for years, sunblock is NOT the way to protect your skin from the sun. A far more logical solution would be to creatively use your clothing to block the sun's rays during your build-up time, and this includes covering up your children who are unable to do so on their own.
