I know many of you who follow this blog regularly don't smoke, but it appears many of you have a loved one who does. That's why we received so many hits from my recent posting about the true cost, in terms of dollars and sense, of smoking. Ever considered the "true cost" of smoking on an even more important part of your life: Your kids?
Children who are exposed regularly to second-hand smoke are three times more likely to suffer from lung cancer than peers who live in non-smoking homes, according to a new study. In a survey of more than 120,000 people in the U.K., all of whom were exposed at some point to second-hand smoke, some 125 people were diagnosed with lung cancer and related diseases such as cancer of the larynx and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Moreover, the incidence of lung cancer was particularly acute among those who had never smoked at all.
Ex-smokers weren't off the hook either. They faced up to twice the risk of respiratory diseases from passive smoke than those who never smoked, largely because their lungs were probably already damaged.
The only way to completely prevent cancer caused by smoking is through abstinence. If one decides to stop, the best route is cold turkey and not gradual reduction. But that can be tough for anyone. That's why I recommend learning the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), the energy psychology tool that can help you deal with the emotions that lead to harmful addictions like smoking.
Whether you suffer from a traumatic event, an addiction, disease or pain, EFT is an amazing tool to quickly, efficiently and effectively help you solve the problem. I urge you to learn how to use it at home with our free EFT manual.
