One Hour of Activity Needed to Offset Harmful Effects of Sitting at a Desk

A new study covered by The Guardian says that an hour or more of physical activity may be needed to offset the dangers of sitting at a desk for eight hours. This is just one of many studies that have brought the dangers of excessive sitting to light.

TAKE A STAND: Previous research has shown that there are a number of health risks associated with prolonged sitting, regardless of physical activity. The solution isn't simply to swap sitting for standing, as staying too long in any one position can potentially lead to problems. Ideally, strive for a balance between sitting, standing and moving.
