Americans Weigh 15 Lb. More Than They Used To

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, according to Time, have found that the average man is now 15 lbs heavier and the average woman is 16 lbs heavier compared to data from previous years. Children are no exception as the average boy and girl are 13 lbs and 7 lbs heavier since 1988-94 respectively.

FACT CHECK:  Today, about 75 percent of US men and 67 percent of US women are either overweight or obese. Obesity, and its causes, are complex. Often, it is not simply the result of eating too many calories and not exercising enough. While it is part of the equation, environmental and lifestyle factors appear to play a far more significant role in this trend.
