Bee-Friendly Gardens Are Finally Becoming Safe for Bees

The website TakePart has good news for those of us concerned about the honeybee population and the dangers posed by neonicotinoid pesticides. "Not only is the number of plants treated with neonics down, but retailers including Lowe’s and Home Depot have said that they will phase out the pesticides altogether"

For bees living in the 21st century, the world is a dangerous place. With grasslands being increasingly converted into corn and soybean fields, finding wild flowering trees, weeds and other plants can be a challenge. Admirable measures are being undertaken to protect their dwindling population but bees are still being decimated by a dangerous cocktail of pesticides. Is the decline of the bee population is a harbinger of dangers not yet fully recognized that lurk just over the horizon?
