Flint Hit With Bacterial Illness as Residents Shun City Water

As reported by The New York Times, a lack of safe and potable water has set off a chain reaction in the Flint water crisis that’s resulted in a breakout of shigellosis. This fecal oral transmittable disease is most commonly spread by unwashed hands. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps. So far this year 85 cases have been reported.

Flint is not the only city threatened by crumbling infrastructure and contaminated water. Toxic drinking water is a widespread problem throughout the U.S. Flint brought this health compromising issue to the forefront but many remain unaware that they may also be consuming toxic water. The National Resource Defense Council has revealed that 18 million Americans may be consuming water with lead violations.

Unfortunately, most water sources are severely polluted. I strongly recommend using a high-quality water filtration system unless you can verify the purity of your water. A great starting point is a filter that uses a multi-stage filtration process — a micron sediment pre-filter, a KDF water filter, and a high-grade carbon water filter. This technology can filter out chlorine, DBPs, metals and other contaminants. A pricier option is a reverse osmosis filter. These can remove even more impurities as well as fluoride.

Another great option is living water. This energized water can recharge your mitochondria and deep springs are one excellent source. You can also promote structured water through vortexing or cooling it to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. Reverting tap water back into a vitality boosting element can provide enormous health benefits.
