Exercise Releases This Fat-Burning Hormone

Good news from the University of Florida reports that researchers have determined that exercise releases irisin, a hormone that helps the body shed fat and keeps it from forming, according to Epoch Times. Irisin helps convert calorie-storing white fat cells into brown fat cells that burn energy.

This adds to the list of winning strategies involving exercise that helps you shed fat. Of course, the master key to shedding fat lies in what you eat — that’s why I encourage scheduling your eating to a narrow window of time each day in the form of intermittent fasting. Two other dietary keys for shedding fat include reducing or eliminating added sugar from your diet, and increasing healthy fats in your diet.

Some common mistakes that make shedding fat, particularly belly fat, more difficult include lack of exercise, magnesium deficiency, consuming diet beverages, overindulgence in beer and alcohol, and stress. When it comes to exercise, the combination of intermittent fasting and HIIT is a particularly potent combination, as when done in tandem it virtually forces your body to burn off excess fat.

A strong abdominal wall will also help produce that six-pack look once you've lost sufficient amounts of subcutaneous fat. To effectively train your core muscles, be sure to incorporate a variety of stabilization, functional and traditional exercises such as standard crunches, extension exercises that strengthen your abdomen while working both your legs and your arms, and stabilizing exercises that pull your belly toward your spine. Yoga, Pilates and pushups help too.
