Poor Diet Is The Greatest Risk To Worldwide Health

The widespread adoption of the standard American diet is fast becoming an international crisis. As reported by The Huffington Post, the collective damage inflicted by alcohol, drugs, tobacco and sex is less than the global impact of poor dietary habits. The number of overweight and obese people could end up increasing to 3.5 billion by 2030.

Obesity is more than just a cosmetic issue. One in 5 deaths in the U.S. is related to obesity. For the first time in history there are more obese people than those who are underweight. There are 500 million more obese people than there were in 1975. By 2025, an estimated 20 percent of the global population and nearly 45 percent of American adults will obese.

This is a cataclysmic turn of events that needs to be addressed on multiple levels. Addressing what people eat is an obvious first step. Processed foods are purchased for convenience and their perceived value. They are also extremely addictive and take a terrible toll on your health. Perhaps most troubling is the fact they are often marketed to children in order to create customers for life.

Consuming a diet of healthy and whole foods is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle. Ditching processed foods requires that you plan your meals in advance, but if you take it step-by-step as described in my nutrition plan, it is possible to remove processed foods from your diet.
