Mouth Cancer Rates up 68% in 20 Years – and Unhealthy Lifestyles Are to Blame

Mouth cancer is up 68 percent for men and women of all ages, and 9 out of 10 cases are linked to unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking, drinking alcohol and having a diet low in fruits and vegetables, the Independent reports.

While infection with human papilloma virus (HPV) is also a known risk factor, don’t be fooled into thinking that the way to prevent oral cancer is to get the vaccine. The truth is about 90 percent of all HPV infections go away on their own. And the cancers caused by this virus — usually associated with cervical cancer — are stimulated by the unhealthy lifestyles cited in the Independent.

The risks of the HPV vaccine are significant: By mid-March 2015, the HPV vaccine Gardasil had generated more than 35,000 adverse reaction reports to the U.S. government, including more than 200 deaths — and this is probably a gross underestimate because studies show that less than 10 percent of all vaccine adverse events are reported.

If you want to live a cancer preventative lifestyle, there are many natural things you can do, beginning with not smoking, limiting or avoiding alcohol, and eating a wholesome diet that is low in sugar and carbs and high in fresh, organic vegetables and healthy fats, along with portioned amounts of grass-fed beef and dairy. My updated Nutrition Plan can help with this. And take note: One study shows that shiitake mushrooms, or extract, virtually eliminated HPV infection in women.
