Pesticide Exposure Altering Farmer's Mouth Bacteria

UPI reports that the biome of farm workers is being adversely affected by pesticides. It was researchers from the University of Washington who discovered that the composition of the bacteria in the mouths of farmers was significantly different than the population as a whole, and they also had high pesticide levels in their blood.

It is time to adopt sustainable farming methods. Glyphosate permeates every nook and cranny of the ecosystem. This is no surprise as nearly 1 billion pounds of glyphosate are dumped on both conventional and GE crops annually. Processed foods expose you to the largest amounts of this poison courtesy of vegetable and soy oil.

Glyphosate is not just an issue of topical contamination. Normally, you need to thoroughly wash your produce to remove surface residues, but you simply cannot remove glyphosate from your produce.

GMO proponents claim that genetic engineering is “safe and beneficial,” and that it advances the agricultural industry. They also say that GMOs help ensure the global food supply and sustainability. But is there any truth to these claims? For years, I’ve stated the belief that GMOs pose an existential threat to life on the planet. Genetic engineering is NOT the safe and beneficial technology that it is touted to be.

Will you financially support a corrupt, toxic and unsustainable food system, or a healthy, regenerative one? Instead of purchasing big-brand processed foods consider shopping exclusively at local farms or farmers markets. Only buy products marked either “USDA 100 percent Organic” (which by law cannot contain GMOs), “100 percent Grass-Fed” or “Non-GMO Verified.” Last but not least, encourage companies to embrace clear and transparent labeling of GMO ingredients.
