Report Finds Toxic Chemicals in One-Third of Fast Food Packaging

It turns out that you have more to fear from fast food than just nutritionally bereft and unethically sourced fare. As CNN reported, a new study discovered that fast food wrappers can be laden with fluorinated chemicals. The toxic ingredients found in heavily processed fast food are scary enough on their own and now there is no excuse to ever frequent one of these ‘restaurants’.

Wrappers impregnated with fluorinated chemicals, also known as PFAs, are intentionally used by fast food restaurants because they are grease and water repellent. This has created a disturbing scenario where safe guarding the structural integrity of sandwich wrappers has taken precedence over the health of paying customers.

Fast food customers are often enduring a double insult to their health: They are consuming potentially damaging and toxic food that is often sourced from environmentally damaging and unsustainable CAFOs, then they face the prospect of ingesting PFAs through the wrappers used to contain these food like items. Washing it down with a sugary slurry or an aspartame sweetened soft drink can give you a true health calamity for less than 10 dollars.

Unfortunately, gender bending chemicals in the food supply are nothing new. Food packaging has long been a source of poisons that can adversely impact health. Genital malformations, cancer and fertility issues are frequently associated with PFAs.

There is a simple solution to this problem: remove all processed food from your diet. Instead, consume only whole and nourishing foods that you have prepared yourself. Ditching processed foods requires that you plan your meals in advance, but if you take it step-by-step as described in my nutrition plan, it is possible to remove processed foods from your diet.
