Childhood Cancer Survivors and Later Sexual Health

Most childhood cancer survivors are able to live fulfilling lives despite the potent toxicity of cancer treatments. This heartening news was provided by WebMD and dispels concerns over the long term impact of the powerful neurotoxins used in certain treatment protocols.

The WebMD article focused on the sexual health of childhood cancer survivors and found that they did not dramatically differ from their peers. Observing the long-term developmental impact of powerful drugs was the primary purpose of the study, but the emotional impact should never be overlooked.

Psychological stress can take a tremendous toll on your health. One of the reasons for this is because stress causes inflammation, which in turn is a hallmark of most diseases, from obesity and diabetes to heart disease and cancer. Americans in general are more stressed than ever. Adults reporting being under "extreme stress” now represent almost a quarter of the population

Every feeling you have affects some part of your body, and stress can wreak havoc on your physical health. Just because we don’t have the technology to visualize the mind-body connection doesn’t mean it’s not real. Imaging technology now allows us to observe how emotions are felt throughout the human body and may serve as the catalyst of a health revolution.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is one way to harness your emotions in a proactive and empowering manner. It is a form of psychological acupressure that makes use of the same energy meridians known in traditional acupuncture. EFT does not involve needles but instead incorporates gentle tapping with your fingertips. This transfers kinetic energy onto specific meridians on your head and chest while you think about your specific problem — whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain or anxiety — and voice positive affirmations.
