Fasting Diet May Regenerate Diabetic Pancreas

Researchers have found that not only can diabetes be combated with dieting and healthy fats, but it can regenerate the diabetic pancreas. As reported by the BBC, a diet designed to mimic fasting provided amazing benefits to the mice in the study. These positive results correspond with previous research that has repeatedly demonstrated the incredible synergy created when a nourishing diet is combined with intermittent fasting

As you know, I’m a huge advocate of intermittent fasting, which helps reset your body to burn fat for fuel, and helps optimize insulin sensitivity. This is one of the most effective interventions for normalizing your weight and helping you feel less hungry because, when you exercise while fasting, it essentially forces your body to shed fat, as your body's fat burning processes are controlled by your sympathetic nervous system (SNS), and your SNS is activated by exercise and lack of food.

While there are many different kinds of intermittent fasting schedules, if you’re insulin resistant or your pancreas is otherwise compromised, my personal recommendation is to fast every day by scheduling all of your eating within a window of approximately eight hours or less. For example, you could restrict eating to the hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.. This equates to 16 hours of daily fasting.

What you eat is just as important. Obesity rates are through the roof. Processed foods play a large role in the spread of this plague that is slashing life expectancy and undercutting the quality of life for millions. The standard western diet is one of the most damaging products of modernity and the obesity epidemic is a growing global concern.

Years of misinformation about the profound benefits of healthy fats has inflicted untold injury on millions of otherwise health conscious individuals. This new study is just the most recent example of how cutting edge nutritional information may protect you from diabetes, obesity and other debilitating health conditions.

The rotten dietary edifice that has been created and subsidized by big food manufacturers needs to be swept away. My beginner nutrition plan is an excellent starting point. The first step is to remove sugar and processed foods from your diet. Instead, you should consume only nourishing and healthy whole foods.

Such major changes to your eating habits may seem inconvenient to those pressed for time but the health benefits are immense. The classic food pyramid was an obsolete wonder. It was sculpted by special interest groups and gilded with a thin veneer of bunk science. The good news is that the damage it has wrought may be reversible with intermittent fasting and proper eating habits.
