Yo-Yo Dieting Increases Your Risk of Death

Yo-yo dieting may increase your risk of death. That was the conclusion of a new study in Medical News Today. This information is nothing new. Previous studies had also shown how such diets could dramatically impact your health. This most recent study simply confirmed the damage caused by yo-yo diets.

Yo-yo dieting describes a repeated cycle of extreme weight gain and weight loss. These massive changes in body weight can ravage your body and can also take a severe mental toll. 

So how do you break the cycle of yo-yo dieting? A successful weight loss plan can be broken down into three easy-to-remember components: exercise, diet and the timing of your meals.  

The foundation of a successful weight loss plan is to exercise effectively and incorporate regular movement into your daily routine. When it comes to weight loss, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) combined with intermittent fasting is the most effective combo I know of.

You should remove all processed foods from your diet. In their place, consume only nourishing and sustainably sourced whole foods. This change may sound time consuming, but the benefits are immense. As you know, I’m a huge advocate of intermittent fasting, which helps reset your body to burn fat for fuel, and helps optimize insulin sensitivity. This is one of the most effective interventions for normalizing your weight and helping you feel less hungry because, when you exercise while fasting, it essentially forces your body to shed fat, as your body's fat burning processes are controlled by your sympathetic nervous system (SNS), and your SNS is activated by exercise and lack of food.
