Cannabinoids Used in Sequence With Chemotherapy Are a More Effective Treatment for Cancer

New research shows that cannabis is effective in killing leukemia cells, especially when used with chemotherapy treatments. According to studies conducted at St. George’s University of London, a regimen of chemo followed by cannabinoids (the active chemicals in cannabis) had better results than chemo alone. Study authors said the cannabis extracts were “highly concentrated and purified, so smoking marijuana will not have a similar effect.”

Time and again, science is proving that medical cannabis can benefit your entire body, from helping to reduce pain to combating seizures and muscles spasms to treating cancer. It’s even been shown to help reverse the aging process in your brain. What’s more, it can do all this with virtually no fatal toxicity.

Regardless of your views on the pros and cons of recreational marijuana, the body of scientific evidence about its medicinal value is getting more compelling by the day, and that cannabis often works where drugs fail. The cannabinoids in cannabis — cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — interact with your body by way of naturally-occurring cannabinoid receptors embedded in cell membranes throughout your body.

One important note is that we’re talking about medicinal uses of cannabinoids, as when cannabis is inhaled, smoked or vaporized, its effects are rapid and short-lasting. If the idea of using medical cannabis (provided it's legal in your state) still makes you cringe, I recommend delving deeper into the research to educate yourself on the matter.

One reputable source is, the U.S. government's site on cancer. Simply enter "cannabis" into the search bar. You can also peruse the medical literature through PubMed, where you will see that awareness is starting to shift, and many are now starting to recognize the medical value of cannabis. Even the former U.S. Surgeon General has spoken out in favor of medical marijuana.
