What Doing 50 Burpees Every Day for 30 Days Can Do to Your Body

A runner who was challenged by a friend to do 50 burpees a day for a month not only succeeded in doing them, but learned some things about herself along the way, she writes in PopSugar. It gave her a challenging full-body workout quickly. She felt healthier when she was done. Plus, it gave her an appreciation for knowing she could start something, remain loyal to the commitment and be ready for the next challenge, whatever it may be.

For those who don’t know, a burpee is a type of squat thrust done in four steps or counts, and they’re a terrific complement to your workout routine. Burpees were invented as a fitness test and were used to assess physical fitness in the military. The original burpee was sometimes called a squat thrust. The modern-day burpee has six steps, including the addition of a pushup and explosive jump.

Squats actually promote body-wide muscle building by catalyzing an anabolic environment, which primes your muscles for growth. They also help you burn fat quickly if you want to shed a few pounds by increasing your metabolism.

My newest favorite power exercise is the nitric oxide dump, which can you get fit in as little as six minutes a week. In this exercise, which involves high-intensity interval training (HIIT), intensity is the key. It’s so quick and versatile that I do this exercise two to three times virtually every day, unless my schedule is massively overbooked.
