Across the country, states are ramping up “armies” of contact tracers who will be charged with tracking down and quarantining everyone testing positive for COVID-19. In California, Dr. Robert Levin, Ventura County Public Health director, said in a press conference that, in some cases, this may include removing people from their homes.
The excuse he gave was to help infected individuals isolate from others in their home, for example, when the home had only one bathroom. Levin later attempted to walk back his comments, saying he was either “misspoken” or was being misinterpreted. But if you listen to what he says on a video of his press conference, he clearly says “ … [W]e’ll be moving people like this into other kinds of housing that we have available.”
