The first results from a coronavirus vaccine clinical trial are in, and of the 45 healthy persons who took Moderna’s mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, four suffered what is called Grade 3 side effects.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services describes these types of vaccine reactions as “severe or medically significant but not immediately life-threatening; hospitalization or prolongation of hospitalization indicated; disabling; limiting self care” such as “bathing, dressing and undressing, feeding self, using the toilet, taking medications.”
Only eight of the trial subjects developed antibodies sufficient enough to suggest they might provide protection against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
