In an interview with Jonathan Latham, co-founder and executive director of Bioscience Research Project and editor of Independent Science News, Latham discusses the possible origins of COVID-19, the lack of security in labs conducting research on viruses, and the question of whether this type of research is even necessary or productive.
Latham, whose Ph.D. is in virology, also poses the question of whether the scientists involved were doing the research simply because they were getting grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health for it. And, he says, he wishes the media were “slightly more skeptical” of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who Latham says “has quite a record.”
