A retired Manhattan surgeon who later died of coronavirus
flew from New York to Los Angeles and back in March — after much of the country
was already on lockdown. In another instance in March a person from South Korea
flew to Los Angeles and became the first COVID-19 death there.
CDC officials said LA public officials never informed them
about the patients being on the flights. According to Fox News, the virus from
the surgeon’s flight eventually reached a California assisted living facility,
where a dozen people eventually died.
