As schools debate when to return to regular classrooms — or whether — statistics show that those under age 25 are more likely to die from flu or pneumonia than COVID-19. Specifically, children between 5 and 14 have a 1 in 200,000 chance of dying of influenza, but only a 1 in 2.5 million chance of dying from COVID-19.
Toddlers ages 1 to 4 are 20 times more likely to die from flu.
