A COVID-19 vaccine trial has begun in South Africa, Britain and Brazil. Even though the African continent had what health officials called a “late start” to the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic, there are now nearly 325,000 cases.
World health officials, including WHO chielf Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, are stressing that a COVID-19 vaccine should be distributed in places like Africa, where it’s most needed, rather than going to richer countries that can afford to pay for it.
