The way health officials have been handling the coronavirus pandemic and counting the cases not only is in a “shambles,” but the lockdowns may very well be contributing to an increase in deaths, according to Dr. Malcolm Kendrick, a GP and author of the book, “Doctoring Data: How to Sort Out Medical Advice from Medical Nonsense.”
Many people who die, particularly those who are very elderly, are counted as COVID deaths even if they haven’t been tested for COVID, Kendrick says. Compounding the situation is the fact that different countries are reporting the numbers in different ways.
“The really concerning thing is that if all the deaths taking place during lockdown are put down as Covid-19 deaths, we are going to miss the fact that the lockdown policies have caused an increase in deaths from many other things,” Kendrick says. In other words, we exposed the weakest and locked down those who were not vulnerable.
