The Coronavirus Is Mutating: What Does That Mean for a Vaccine?

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is mutating — again and again and again — and now scientists are speculating as to whether a vaccine for it will work, if and when a vaccine comes to market.

Even though one group of researchers found that the mutation boosts transmission of the virus, and although the vaccines are based on the original version of the virus, one scientist told The Washington Post that he still believes the vaccines can be effective against the mutated versions.
