Everyone seems to be in agreement that frontline medical workers should be the first to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, if and when that happens, but after that the priority of who’s next in line gets tricky.
Suggestions have included the elderly and those in long-term facilities, specific ethnic groups hard-hit by the virus, other groups such as prisoners, meat packers, soldiers, grocery store workers. However, pregnant women — who are normally the last to receive a new vaccine — are also being considered as first-receivers because of their increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
