Gilead Sciences, makers of remdesivir, a drug that has showed promise in treating coronavirus infections, announced it will charge U.S. hospitals $3,120 a dose for a patient with private insurance, with most patients needing six doses of the drug over five days.
A lower price of $390 per vial will be offered to other governments in developed countries around the world, due to agreements made between Gilead and generic manufacturers to produce remdesivir at a significantly lower cost.
