Would you volunteer to take a COVID-19 vaccine even if the clinical trials aren’t finished? A frequent Forbes writer thinks you should.

Because we’re in the middle of a pandemic the likes of which haven’t been seen since 1918, Steven Salzberg believes that COVID-19 vaccines should be released right now, and given free to anyone who wants one. “Of course we’ll have to educate anyone who wants the vaccine that we don’t know for sure if it works,” he said.

As for safety, researchers are “fairly confident” they’re safe — but of course that’s what larger, Phase 3 clinical trials, which he’s suggesting we skip, are designed to determine for certain.
