People with cancer and chronic conditions like heart and
lung disease are suffering devastating setbacks in their care since the
coronavirus lockdown, even as COVID-19 deaths dip to the lowest the lowest
levels since before the lockdown.
In England and Wales, for example, coronavirus deaths are at
2.4%. Yet, patients with cancer, heart disease, strokes, dementia and
intestinal illnesses are still sitting on-hold, waiting for hospitals to open
to them. In a survey, 94% of doctors said they were worried about the
consequences these patients face.
