Two doctors and a lawyer from Case Western University speaking with USA Today not only said there should be no exemptions of any kind when the COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, but that serious punishments should be handed down to anyone who refuses it. Some of the punishments they suggested were:
- A loss of tax credits or being denied nonessential government benefits
- Higher health insurance premiums
- Private businesses refusing to employ or serve unvaccinated individuals
- Being banned from attending school
- Being refused public and commercial transit such as airlines, trains and buses
- No admission to public and private auditoriums without a vaccine certificate
In an August 6 version of the story, a subhead in the article read, “punish those who won’t be vaccinated.” It was later changed to a toned-down “create disincentives for those who refuse vaccines shown to be safe and effective.” USA Today posted an “updated” dateline as August 10, but did not indicate to readers what it was they updated.
LifeSite News provided a screenshot of the original subhead.
