If you look at the data of deaths due to COVID-19 in Sweden,
New York, Illinois and Texas on a graph, the picture you get might give you an
idea why some people believe it’s time for the U.S. to adopt Sweden’s COVID
plan of action.
Sweden’s “lockdown” consisted of simply stopping gatherings
of more than 50 people, while allowing businesses and the citizens to decide
whether to close down, use masks or social distance. They also did not close
down schools.
Even so, Sweden’s mortality rate has remained low throughout
the pandemic, and health officials believe they’ve achieved herd immunity
regardless of what immunity tests show.
