Following a WHO confirmation that COVID-19 is airborne and
spread through different sized human droplets, a group of researchers have been
studying a droplet’s maximum range, with those tests showing gaps in the
knowledge of where individual droplets go when ejected.
While PPE is an effective barrier to large droplets, it is
thought to be less so for smaller droplets, prompting one medical professional
to come up with the idea of creating an aerosol extractor device to keep
clinicians safe by effectively trapping droplets, if their diameters fall below
that of a human hair.
