A two-minute video circulating on Twitter (see above) is promoting the
launch of health passports in Ireland. Designed to “protect our society and our
economy,” Health Passport Ireland uses “the very best COVID-19 testing combined
with the latest mobile technologies,” the film says.
Purportedly, this information will provide Ireland’s
citizens the passport they need to return to “normal” life. The steps to
achieving this freedom include:
- Getting tested
- Having a health
administrator create your passport account
- Downloading your health
passport to your mobile device
- Having your test results
updated in your mobile account
Once all this is done “you can easily display your COVID-19
status on your mobile” so you can “go about your daily activities in a safer
way.”
The passport can be used for travel, hospitality, education,
health care, construction, offices, entertainment and unspecified types of
visits. For convenience purposes, you will be automatically notified when your
test status period has expired.
Oh — and the really good news: Once a vaccine is available
your vaccination status will be stored in your passport.
