Do you trust the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or Big Pharma to look out for your best interests when it comes to your health? If you’re like most Americans, you don’t, according to a survey that found that fewer than 1 in 10 have a “great deal” of trust in them.
The implications of this are huge, Axios, which co-sponsored the survey with Ipsos, said — for one thing, if Americans don’t trust these two, it will be hard to convince them to “converge around a vaccine when the time comes.”
While 57% of Americans had a degree of trust in the FDA, only 8%, or fewer than 1 in 10, said they had a “great deal” of trust. On the other hand, 57% said they had “not very much or none at all” when it came to trust in the pharmaceutical industry.
