A Nashville city councilman has accused the mayor and the city health department of hiding data showing there were very few coronavirus cases in local restaurants and bars, and of fabricating numbers to keep those businesses closed.
Copies of emails between the health department and mayor’s office back up the accusation. WZTV Nashville reported that council member Steve Glover consulted a staff attorney to make sure the emails were real — and when the attorney confirmed that they were, Glover responded, "We raised taxes 34 percent and put hundreds, literally thousands, of people out of work that are now worried about losing their homes, their apartments ... and we did it on bogus data. That should be illegal.”
When WZTV Nashville, a Fox News affiliate, inquired about the accusations, the mayor’s office told them to file a freedom of information request, WZTV said.
