Did China trick the world into committing economic suicide?
That’s the question that an article in news.com.au asks as it reports on research by Michael Senger, who has found evidence that China promoted fraudulent date and deployed disinformation that tricked most of the rest of the world into shutting down and ultimately destroying their economies.
“By promoting fraudulent data, aggressively deploying disinformation, and flexing its institutional clout, Beijing transformed the snake oil of lockdowns into ‘science’, crippling rival economies, expanding its influence and sowing authoritarian values,” Senger wrote in a Twitter post. China used every means possible, from personal contacts with key world health policy makers to using every type of social media available to convince the world to shut down.
But was it necessary? Indeed, as news.com.au points out, Sweden bucked the trend and refused to shut down and weathered the pandemic without destroying itself.
