If you’re a health care worker in Shasta County in northern California, you no longer are mandated to get a flu shot. County officials announced their decision after “chatting with the Board of Supervisors and also hearing some feedback from health care workers who were concerned that they did not have an option to wear a mask.”
Health care workers who opt out of the shot still have to wear a mask, though. Action News Now reported that during the meeting, citizens gathered outside to protest “unlawful orders to mask up our children, to close up our businesses, to close our churches and to mandate vaccines.”
A neighboring county, Tehama, meanwhile, went the opposite direction and issued a mandated flu shot for all the health care workers in that county.
