The third-richest person in the world, Elon Musk, says he will not take a COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available, adding that neither he nor his kids are at risk for coming down with the virus. Musk also criticized widespread lockdowns, suggesting that only those who are at risk for getting sick should be quarantined.
"The question is what, on balance, serves the greater good," Musk said — the lockdowns did not accomplish that and the pandemic is a "no-win situation."
The Tesla CEO made the comments during a podcast with journalist Kara Swisher, during which he also took a swing at fellow billionaire Bill Gates, who said in July that Musk should stay out of the vaccine debate because “he’s not much involved in vaccines.”
In the current podcast Musk responded, “It's like, hey, knucklehead, we actually make the vaccine machines for CureVac, that company you're invested in."
