Vaccine-Tracking Dashboard Launches in Ohio

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has announced he’ll be launching a COVID-19 vaccination dashboard soon, which will track everyone in the state who gets the shot. The data will then be available in an online dashboard for the public to access.

According to a tweet DeWine posted December 14, 2020, the dashboard will show the number vaccinated in the state as well as demographic data by county. Ohio’s first vaccines were administered at OSU Wexner and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

December 12, 2020, The Washington Post launched a vaccine distribution dashboard of its own, indicating that 2.9 million doses are expected to be delivered right away, with 15 million by the end of the year. The Post’s dashboard extends to 328 million — the number of people living in the U.S.

Since the vaccines are administered in two separate doses a few weeks apart, states will use various electronic tracking systems and digital registries to monitor individuals who take the shots, to make sure they get the second, and that their second dose is from the same manufacturer as the first. Some states may also choose to hand out vaccination cards to help patients keep track of their status.
