A study at Houston Methodist Hospital shows most COVID-19 patients improve after being treated with blood plasma from recovered coronavirus patients, known as convalescent plasma.
In the study, 25 severely ill COVID-19 patients were given convalescent plasma, resulting in 19 of the 25 patients — or 76% — showing improvement by the end of the study period. In addition, 11 of the patients were discharged from the hospital.
None of the patients suffered any adverse events as a result of plasma transfusion, researchers said.
