One of the persons from the World Health Organization who is charged with investigating the origin of COVID-19 has been caught on camera talking about how he and the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) were manipulating coronaviruses before the pandemic broke out.
In the video, Peter Daszak, president of EcoHealth Alliance, explains how he and the WIV worked together to study bat coronaviruses. Their research, which received millions of dollars in funding from the National Institutes of Health, focused on Gain of function experiments and manipulating SARS viruses in an attempt to create a vaccine.
Daszak also talks about working with a researcher at the University of North Carolina, Ralph Baric, to do this. “As has been suggested by proponents that SARS-CoV-2 is a chimera made in a lab, he speaks of inserting the spike protein ‘into a backbone of another virus’ and then doing ‘some work in the lab,’" Taiwan News reports.
In light of Daszak’s connection to the research, some scientists are calling for Daszak to be disqualified from investigating the very work he said he was involved in.
